Assignment 3.1

In assignment 2.3 I said that I rarely see or hear language in my dream. The article tells me that there’s some special kind of language in dreams. I wasn’t aware of this before but after reading this article I was. I think the article has a point. In dreams we don’t need real language to make us understand things. We know what things are just by seeing them. We see a lot of visuals and we know what they mean. We know what certain situations are supposed to tell us. We understand what is happening because of our own dream language. We don’t need vocabulary and grammar; we only need to understand what is happening.

 

Assignment 3.2

It is important for me as a teacher to make my pupils understand language.  I need to teach them how to use language as a communicative tool. Language is all around us. It is something a person cannot get past. In this age, language and communication are more important than ever. We use language communicate person to person and online. Language makes it possible for us to communicate, to think thoughts and to express ourselves. We cannot live without language anymore. Language can do both great wonderful things as great terrible things. It can help to start wars but it can also help to create peace. It is important for us humans to be aware of this as soon as possible. As a teacher, I should make my pupils aware of the importance of language. I shouldn’t just teach them vocabulary and grammar rules. I should teach them what they can achieve with language. I think this can also motivate my students to learn a language. When you teach the importance and opportunities of a language, it’s not just about the ‘dull’ rules anymore. Pupils will be interested and they will see why they are learning a language. This could make them learn better. We teachers should teach our students what they can and can’t do with language. We need to make them aware of the ways they can use language. This could make them achieve great things or prevent them from making terrible mistakes due to language.
